Carousing around online, I was looking up information on Apple Lossless. It's a format used in IPODS, and I wanted to see if it was adjustable. I read a post about it's benefits, though I hardly agreed with this novice, and I just had to chuckle at his profile description:
Isn't that amazing?
In America, if there is one thing the hard left is right about, it's that we are far too consumer minded. Think about it. Ever watched some of the dumb items people buy at your local Target? We can never buy enough stuff. We always want the latest cell phone, the greatest television, the hottest hi-def radio, the sharpest car. It never stops. A never ending cycle of buying more junk.
Read the above quote again. That right there is your poster boy for John Q. Consumer. Only difference is Jane drives the Honda Element. Both behind the wheel tend to be pretty self-absorbed and in their own little world. We have created total isolation with our little toys, and just kind of hang out in our caves avoiding human contact. Is it any wonder on the roadways we are simply sick of and fed up with our fellow man or woman.
And this is what radical Islam sees. A bunch of fat Americans who are for individual rights and have more money than God himself. While the latter is a problem, as many don't seem to realize even the poorest in our country are wealthier than the richest in other countries, the first is a strong point. However, our enemy doesn't believe in individual rights, and whether we insist on leaving the middle-East alone or not, they will still come for us because our desire for freedom counters their thirst for domination and power.
We certainly could use a return to basic necessities in this country. Last time I checked a map was more effective and reliable than a GPS system, and you don't find yourself being tracked by closet Communists. However, if it flashes, does something cool, looks nice, adds more luxury to our life, we aren't happy until we can get it. I'm not saying we can't have some stuff, but the excess with which we make our purchases by has become ludicrous.
When Muhammad comes knocking, many Americans are going to wish they had spent more time learning how to be self-sufficient and less time trying to buy toys. However, the other dark side to this story is most Americans are either un-aware of world events and threats to their freedom because they avoid the news, or, if they know of it, they are in total denial anything could happen.
...then one day, it's too late....
